    Please read the section below before you start the application
    1. Your Privacy: We take your privacy seriously at MAD Leadership Foundation. We keep all the information you give us safe and private. Make sure you understand how we ask for and use your personal details in the form.
    2. Submitting Your Application: When you submit your application, you're taking the first important step towards applying for a scholarship with MAD Leadership Foundation. However, please be aware that this submission alone does not secure you a scholarship. It's the beginning of the selection process, and there are several stages we go through before deciding on the successful applicants.
    3. Changes to Scholarships Offered: MAD Leadership Foundation reserves the right to withdraw or amend any listed available scholarships at any time, and these changes may occur without prior notice to applicants.
    4. Scholarship Availability: Scholarships are offered subject to funding and availability.
    5. Scholarship Awards: Please understand that our decision-making process is comprehensive and final. While we appreciate the effort every applicant puts into their submission, we maintain a policy of not providing individual feedback on the decisions made.
    6. Application Deadline: Please ensure that you submit the application form in good time in order to meet the application deadline. Application forms received after 26 July 2026 will NOT be considered.
    7. Submission Requirements: Late and/or incomplete applications will not be considered.
    8. Integrity of Application: Should it become apparent that a scholarship was awarded based on false information provided by an applicant or their parent/guardian, the scholarship will be immediately revoked.

    1. If the applicant is successful, scholarship funding will be subject to adherence to a signed scholarship agreement.
    2. MAD Leadership Foundation will not settle any outstanding tuition fees prior to the commencement of scholarship funding (2027).

    1. Only one application per applicant will be considered. You can choose to save the application and continue later, but you will not be allowed to start a new application or modify your application once the form has been submitted.
    2. The supporting documents required are listed at the end of each section. Please make sure that you upload all documents before submitting your application.
    3. You are required to answer ALL required questions and upload supporting documents before you can progress to the next section of the application form.

    Make A Difference Leadership Foundation (hereinafter referred to as “the Organisation”) is committed to protecting the applicant’s privacy and recognises that it needs to comply with statutory requirements in collecting, processing, and distributing personal information. The Constitution of the Republic of South Africa provides that everyone has the right to privacy and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPI”) includes the right to protection against unlawful collection, retention, dissemination and use of personal information. Thus, the processing of personal information by the Organisation will be governed by POPI.

    By completing the application form, you confirm and consent as necessary that the Organisation may process (collect, use, store, or otherwise deal with) your information for the purposes of considering your application and awarding the scholarship.

    How we use your information


    Your information will be confidential and will only be processed if:

    1. You consented thereto;
    2. It is necessary to conclude or perform in terms of a contract with you;
    3. The law requires it or your, our, or third parties’ lawful interest is being protected or pursued.

    The Organisation may process your information. Information includes, amongst others, information regarding nationality, age, language, birth, education, financial information, id number, email address, physical address, telephone number, psychometric assessments, and your name.

    The processing of information includes the collection, storage, updating, use, making available, or destruction thereof.

    Purpose of the use of Personal Information


    The Organisation may process your information for the following reasons (amongst others): 

    1. To comply with legislative, regulatory, risk and compliance requirements (including directives, sanctions and rules), voluntary and involuntary codes of conduct and industry agreements or to fulfil reporting requirements and information requests;
    2. To develop, test, and improve our offering for you;
    3. For historical, statistical, and research purposes;
    4. To enable the Organisation to deliver goods or documents or notices to you;
    5. For security, identity verification;
    6. Personal information, such as name and contact details acquired in the application process, will be used for selecting successful candidates for scholarship funding, and to provide the necessary scholarship support to successful candidates.

    We will not use personal information for purposes other than those described above without the applicant’s consent.

    Provision to a Third Party


    The Organisation may share your information with the following persons (amongst others) who have an obligation to keep your information secure and confidential. Except in the following cases, no personal information acquired in the process of recruitment shall be provided to a third party or be outsourced without the applicant’s consent.

    1. In order to process scholarship applications, it is necessary to provide scholarship funders or potential funders with personal information of the applicant, which personal information includes, but are not necessarily limited to the applicant’s personal information, financial information, academic record and a copy of the applicant's ID. This information is distributed to scholarship partners, usually by electronic means as an email. This personal information provided to scholarship funders is necessary for purposes of contractual obligations.
    2. Cases in which the provision of personal information is based on the laws.
    3. Cases in which the provision of personal information is necessary for the protection of life, body, or property of an individual and in which it is difficult to obtain the consent of the person.
    4. Cases in which the provision of personal information is especially necessary for improving public hygiene or promoting the sound growth of children and in which it is difficult to obtain the consent of the person.
    5. Cases in which the provision of personal information is necessary for cooperating with a state institution, a local public body, or an individual or entity entrusted in executing the operations prescribed by laws and in which obtaining the consent of the person might impede the execution of the operations concerned.


    Request to Disclose Personal Information


    Please send an email to applications@madleadership.org in terms of personal information for disclosure, correction of contents, addition or use, and termination of provision of information and for the notification of the purpose of its use. We will send your information regarding the process separately.

    Rights


    The applicant acknowledges that they are aware thereof that they have the following rights regarding such personal information which is hereby collected.

    The right to: 

    1. Access the information at any reasonable time for purposes of rectification thereof.
    2. You may object on reasonable grounds to the processing of your information, in which case this agreement will terminate in accordance with the provisions contained herein. You may not object to the processing of your information if you have provided consent or legislation requires the processing. You must inform us of your objection.
    3. You have the right to withdraw your consent, which allows us to process your information. However, we will continue to process your information if required by law.
    4. You have the right to request us to correct or delete any information the Organisation has about you if it is inaccurate, irrelevant or excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading, obtained unlawfully or no longer authorised to be kept.
    5. Lodge a complaint to the Information Regulator. 


    Handling of the Application Information Provided


    Documents submitted in the application process shall be stored in the Organisation for a certain period of time and be disposed of appropriately regardless of selection results.
