How we use your information
Your information will be confidential and will only be processed if:
- You consented thereto;
- It is necessary to conclude or perform in terms of a contract with you;
- The law requires it or your, our, or third parties’ lawful interest is being protected or pursued.
The Organisation may process your information. Information includes, amongst others, information regarding nationality, age, language, birth, education, financial information, id number, email address, physical address, telephone number, psychometric assessments, and your name.
The processing of information includes the collection, storage, updating, use, making available, or destruction thereof.
Purpose of the use of Personal Information
The Organisation may process your information for the following reasons (amongst others):
- To comply with legislative, regulatory, risk and compliance requirements (including directives, sanctions and rules), voluntary and involuntary codes of conduct and industry agreements or to fulfil reporting requirements and information requests;
- To develop, test, and improve our offering for you;
- For historical, statistical, and research purposes;
- To enable the Organisation to deliver goods or documents or notices to you;
- For security, identity verification;
- Personal information, such as name and contact details acquired in the application process, will be used for selecting successful candidates for scholarship funding, and to provide the necessary scholarship support to successful candidates.
We will not use personal information for purposes other than those described above without the applicant’s consent.
Provision to a Third Party
The Organisation may share your information with the following persons (amongst others) who have an obligation to keep your information secure and confidential. Except in the following cases, no personal information acquired in the process of recruitment shall be provided to a third party or be outsourced without the applicant’s consent.
- In order to process scholarship applications, it is necessary to provide scholarship funders or potential funders with personal information of the applicant, which personal information includes, but are not necessarily limited to the applicant’s personal information, financial information, academic record and a copy of the applicant's ID. This information is distributed to scholarship partners, usually by electronic means as an email. This personal information provided to scholarship funders is necessary for purposes of contractual obligations.
- Cases in which the provision of personal information is based on the laws.
- Cases in which the provision of personal information is necessary for the protection of life, body, or property of an individual and in which it is difficult to obtain the consent of the person.
- Cases in which the provision of personal information is especially necessary for improving public hygiene or promoting the sound growth of children and in which it is difficult to obtain the consent of the person.
- Cases in which the provision of personal information is necessary for cooperating with a state institution, a local public body, or an individual or entity entrusted in executing the operations prescribed by laws and in which obtaining the consent of the person might impede the execution of the operations concerned.
Request to Disclose Personal Information
Please send an email to applications@madleadership.org in terms of personal information for disclosure, correction of contents, addition or use, and termination of provision of information and for the notification of the purpose of its use. We will send your information regarding the process separately.
Rights
The applicant acknowledges that they are aware thereof that they have the following rights regarding such personal information which is hereby collected.
The right to:
- Access the information at any reasonable time for purposes of rectification thereof.
- You may object on reasonable grounds to the processing of your information, in which case this agreement will terminate in accordance with the provisions contained herein. You may not object to the processing of your information if you have provided consent or legislation requires the processing. You must inform us of your objection.
- You have the right to withdraw your consent, which allows us to process your information. However, we will continue to process your information if required by law.
- You have the right to request us to correct or delete any information the Organisation has about you if it is inaccurate, irrelevant or excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading, obtained unlawfully or no longer authorised to be kept.
- Lodge a complaint to the Information Regulator.
Handling of the Application Information Provided
Documents submitted in the application process shall be stored in the Organisation for a certain period of time and be disposed of appropriately regardless of selection results.
General Consent
I hereby confirm and consent as necessary that the Organisation may process (collect, use, store or otherwise deal with) my information (including processing outside of the borders of South Africa), which was voluntarily provided, for the purposes of considering my application and requirements of the law. I hereby confirm that I have read and understood the contents of this document, specifically the portion relating to the processing of my personal information. I also confirm that the information provided by me to he Organisation is true, correct and current, and that I will inform the Organisation if any of the information provided changes.
